Mehlville COMPASS report – Staffing
November 6, 2007
I missed the first half of the night because of some family commitments, but I did get to the Mehlville COMPASS meeting just in time for the table discussions on the topic of staffing. From what I was able to gather, Dr. Lisa Counts did a fantastic job of describing our current and future staffing projections and needs based on what programs we would like to institute. The needs were determined by the stakeholders participating in the COMPASS meeting, as they were able to rank and determine what they believed should be the priority of the Mehlville School District.
The stakeholders of the district overwhelming prioritized the reduction of class sizes from kindergarten through third grade as number one, which was closely followed by full-day kindergarten for all district residents as number two. This was out of 10 to 15 options or so. I don’t have those options on me now, but will get them and post them later.
I personally would have switched the two priorities, but it is really six in one hand, half dozen in the other.
Good job COMPASS!
